In the summer of 2020, Dan Smith of the Noisettes got a phone call out of the blue from his old friend, Marcus Malone, who recently featured on T.O.E’s massive tune of 2022 ‘Say it loud’. They decided to make a 60s Rhythm and Blues, old school Soul and ‘back to the future’ funk album of 11 songs called ‘Interstate 75’. Written in pen-pal fashion sending recordings over email, the scope of sounds includes late 60’s Stax, Motown and Cadet influences with some of the early 70’s Funk of Sly and The Family Stone and Eugene McDaniels mixed in.
