Multiple Blues Music Award winner NICK SCHNEBELEN has a smokin’ new high-energy Rock ‘n’ Blues album, ‘WHAT KEY IS TROUBLE IN?’

Co-produced by Blues Music Award winner Chris Hardwick (Watermelon Slim) and set for international release March 10, 2023 by the VizzTone Label Group, these thirteen all-original tracks find Nick playing, singing and writing at the top of his game.

Nick is backed on the album by his veteran band Adam Hagerman (drums) and Cliff Moore (bass), with guests Red Young on keyboards (Eric Burden, Marcia Ball, Janiva Magness), Buddy Leach on sax (George Thorogood), and Aaron Mayfield on organ.

The first single from the album, “Hard Drivin’ Woman” was released internationally on January 20, 2023:

Last year Nick and the band toured in Europe as the opening act for George Thorogood and the Destroyers, as they have since pre-pandemic days — they have the pure blues power it takes to fill that slot. Lately they have been promoting the album release with tour dates in the Midwest and Southeast US, and headlining the BratGirlmedia/VizzTone showcase at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenessee. Upcoming dates are scheduled for more of the US, Canada and Germany.

Nick’s musical roots run deep. His mother and father were professional musicians, his grandmother was a big band singer, his grandfather played guitar and his great grandfather was a member of a string band as far back as the 1920s. “You see, music’s been in my blood for generations,” he says. Although Nick has played music from a young age, he blossomed when he attended Kansas City’s Paseo Academy of Performing Arts high school, where he studied both classical and jazz forms. “There are different sets of rules for each and as I played in both the classical orchestra and the jazz band, I got a better understanding of how music works,” he says.

Nick got his introduction to the worldwide Blues community in 2008, along with siblings Danielle and Kris, as a founding member of the Kansas City family band Trampled Under Foot as they overwhelmed the competition to win the 2008 International Blues Challenge, with Nick winning the Albert King Award for “Best Guitarist”.

TUF enjoyed two highly successful albums produced by Tony Braunagel, WRONG SIDE OF THE BLUES (VizzTone/2011) and BADLANDS (2013), which climbed to the top position on Billboard’s Top Blues Album charts. The band was nominated in 2012 as Band of the Year at the Blues Music Awards and won that honor in 2014.The band later won the “Contemporary Blues Album” Blues Music Award.

Nick left the band in 2014 and proceeded to release three VizzTone albums under his own name: LIVE AT KNUCKLEHEADS (2016), LIVE IN KANSAS CITY (2017), and CRAZY ALL BY MYSELF (2019). WHAT KEY IS TROUBLE IN? (2023) is another big step forward as Nick Schnebelen’s creative artistry continues to grow.
